Laura Meherg of the WPG Selected as Moderator for LMASE Regional Conference
The Wicker Park Group announced today that Laura Meherg has been selected as a Moderator of a panel discussion entitled “How to Work with General Counsel” at the 2013 ALA Region 2 Conference &Expo in Memphis, TN taking place October 10-12, 2013. This panel of General Counsel will discuss their views on the state of the legal industry: What has changed during the recession as related to using outside counsel? How are law firms adding value? They will offer practical tips on how lawyers and general counsel can work together more effectively. Objectives of the panel discussion are: Determine the state of the legal industry based on the panel’s point of view; discuss the new “norm” for providing legal services; examine the pressures as a result of the downturn in the economy; and explore how social media is used by General Counsel. Panelists include Steven H. Taylor, Vice President, Regulatory and Industry Affairs, of FedEx Express and Paul Tuberville, General Counsel, Labor and Employment at International Paper, a global forest products company with nearly 70,000 employees worldwide, including more than 40,000 in the United States.
