It’s Not a Secret (You Just Might Not Be Listening)
By: Tara Weintritt At Wicker Park Group, we spend significant time talking to clients of law firms and hear a lot of interesting perspectives. To better share these insights, I’ve recently launched a new series, “It’s Not a Secret (You Just Might Not Be Listening).”
Each Wednesday post will share a real client quote—anonymized but authentic—and follow the BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front) model:
- What the client said
- What it means
- One thing you can do today to build trust, improve service, or strengthen a relationship
No fluff. No guesswork. Just perspective you can use.
You’ll hear from:
- GCs and in-house counsel at public and private companies
- Founders and executives with large and lean teams
- Legal departments managing complex relationships with limited time and high expectations
The companies and industries may differ. But the themes often echo: Clarity. Value. Communication. Differentiation. True partnership.
Why this series? Because we can’t improve what we don’t hear. Because the best service starts with curiosity, humility and integrity. Because improving client service doesn’t require reinvention. Because listening is a strategy. Because good intentions don’t build loyalty—actions do.
My goal is to spark honest reflection and ongoing dialogue within firms, across departments and between clients and lawyers. Whether you’re in house or in private practice, I hope this series helps all of us stay closer to what truly matters.
